Please introduce yourself to our readers.

Hi there my beautiful bride! My name is Ruth and I am the owner and one of the lead stylists at Lily Flower hair and makeup company based in San Antonio, Texas. I am originally from Spain, where I trained under the direction of fashion mogul and super talented celebrity stylist Pedro Gonzalez, director of a prestigious school. I now live in Texas and absolutely love it! I am married to the love of my life and teen crush, and have three beautiful children, and one cat. Our team will make sure you and your wedding party look absolutely perfect on your big special day. Also, did I mention? We just won Wedding Wire’s 2019 couple’s choice award!

I really love to empower women with the subtle or dramatic changes that hair and makeup can bring.

How did you become a hairdresser and make-up artist?

Ever since I can remember I loved everything related to beauty. Once I graduated from High School, I enrolled myself part-time at the University and I also took hair and makeup classes at a prestigious school owned by former Miss Spain, Raquel Revuelta. I really love to empower women with the subtle or dramatic changes that hair and makeup can bring. I love seeing the transformation and seeing how women suddenly feel more confident in their own skin, I’d say that is my absolute favorite part of my job.

How would you describe your style?

My style tends to be sophisticated and opt for a softer and glamorous style. I do believe that a bride should look timeless and beautiful. However, our team of makeup artists can accommodate any request, from a very natural and subtle look to a very glamorous red carpet one if that is what you like.

What are some good makeup looks for a daytime wedding?

For a day time wedding, it is best to keep the tones lighter. A very airbrushed makeup with nude lips and soft eyeshadows is best to keep things looking very natural.

Some of my bridal favorite makeup products are:

  • The makeup forever hd foundation
  • Makeup geek eyeshadows
  • For mascara: voluminous by L'Oréal but waterproof of course, I am obsessed with it!
  • For lips, I love a great nude color like faux by Mac
  • Bronzer
  • Blush
  • Highlighter
  • And to set all the makeup so it stays I love to use the “all-nighter” by Urban Decay.

Which makeup trend do brides love to wear?

Almost every bride wants a very flawless complexion, a well-defined eyeliner, contour and highlighter of course.

Which hairstyle would you recommend for a wedding?

It really depends on the style of the wedding the bride has chosen.

  • I’d say, if your wedding is traditional, go with an updo.
  • If you are doing a vintage wedding, finger waves are best.
  • For a beach wedding will be best to do beach waves all down.
  • Aboho-romantic wedding typically calls for braids and soft curls.

What are the best bridesmaid's hairstyles for a wedding?

The two most requested styles for bridesmaids these days are either updos with a side braid or a half up half down with curls and twists or braids.

What is your fee per person, and what are the extras?

Our pricing is a full-service including all products. For hair is only $80 a hairstyle and makeup is also $80 with lashes included. We never charge more for the bride and we give incentives and offer group discounts.

If a bride shows you a picture of a hair/makeup style, can you copy it?

We actually love and encourage our brides and guests to show us 1-2 of their favorite inspiration pictures. We can absolutely replicate almost anything they show us, however clients need to be aware that certain looks will look different based on the person’s skin type, hair texture, etc. We will always make recommendations based on our professional experience and will provide advice for the best optimum result and not, it will not affect the price.

Which portion of the process keeps you busy the most, and what takes the most energy?

Once our team arrives at the location, we quickly set up and continue with our schedule. We stay busy pretty much the entire time we are there, from making sure we stay within the schedule, applying a flawless makeup or getting the perfect hair, to the finishing touches right before pictures or the walk down the aisle. We never have a dull moment and enjoy every second of it!
