*Caution* Do not hire Nicki Burke unless you want to experience headache upon headache and a plethora of stress for your wedding. She boosts providing “exquisite” service, but it has been anything but that. She lacks professionalism and her immaturity as a business owner is very evident. Our goal in hiring a coordinator was to make sure we had a stress free planning process and to execute a beautiful wedding. When we interviewed coordinators, Nicki said, “I can get you anything you want. If you want a hawk to fly the rings in its mouth to the alter…. I can do that for you. If you want to be dropped off in the car from ghostbusters…. I can do that for you. I can do anything!” From the start of the planning process, she over complicated everything. Our family and I had planned 90% of my wedding, organized every detail, labeled everything, and only needed someone to facilitate decor setup/cleanup and manage a day of timeline. We made spreadsheets, table seating seating arrangements, pre-labeled bins and boxes with table numbers and photos attached, we documented inventory, etc. Unless it’s in a format she exactly wants, she will make you redo EVERYTHING. My poor mother was stressed on a daily basis as Nicki would hammer her about remaking every spreadsheet to her liking. She forced my Mom to unpack everything she had painstakingly labeled and wrapped to take pictures of each individual item for inventory folders. This was an extreme amount of work, but we did it no problem. However, if it’s not in the photo format Nicki wants, she’ll make you redo it over and over again. My dream was to ride in a Horse and Carriage on my special day. Instead of being solution oriented, Nicki will only give you problem after problem. She doesn’t look to find a way to make your dreams come true. She only finds road blocks. She’ll tell you all the reasons why you can’t do something, instead of game plan ways to make it work. Nicki and our venue coordinator would gang up on my mother and I and every time we found a new way to make it happen, they would say “well you need approval here, a permit there, you’ll get pulled over on the road and ticketed, you’ll need to call CDOT/ODOT/sheriffs office and even at that, you still won’t be able to have it”. After doing all our research on our own time, we found multiple horse and carriage companies that were licensed and insured, understood the legalities and rules and regulations of the road, and provided us so much peace and clarity that they could absolutely make this happen for me…. And they did! After sharing the wonderful news with Nicki, her only response was that she didn’t believe the carriage company was right, and would send email after email with the venue coordinator trying to call off the ride, tell them they couldn’t drop me off, and try to convince the owner of the company to not go through with it. Well thank GOD we didn’t listen to her because we had the most magical ride, and all the people in town were waving and cheering and wishing us well. We abided by all the rules of the road, no tickets were given and we experienced zero problems. So happy we went our own direction. Again, Nicki always had reasons and problems for every new solution we would find for ANYTHING. Then there’s the guilt tripping and bullying around transportation. Both Nicki and the Venue coordinator kept saying that we HAD to provide transportation for every single guest (120 people!) to and from the venue. We told them we just didn’t have it in the budget and that it’s something we were unable to do. They told us how cheap we were, how irresponsible we were for not chauffeuring 120 people, and that “everyone” does transportation. Multiple Times we said to please let go of the issue, as we explained to guests exactly where and how to get there, to carpool, where to park, and the importance of driving safely. Mind you, the venue is a 4 MINUTE drive for the hotel blocks and bed and breakfast. She would email my mom repeatedly up until a few weeks prior, and guilted her into paying for this. Well, the shuttle had arrived 20 minutes late, and upon arrival CRASHED into the building, shattered 4 of its windows and had broken glass everywhere and almost tipped over! The groomsman and my husband had to clean up all the glass to make it safe enough to ride. They arrived 45 Minutes late, and we missed all our PreWedding photos. Because the shuttle was late, it picked all the other guests up late, and my ceremony was delayed OVER AN HOUR! While we sat around during this time, Nicki just stood around not knowing what to do. She never contacted the driver or owner of the company, she never contacted guests to help direct them on what to do. 1. Promises and no delivery 2. Over complicated every process 3. Constantly berated my mother and made her redo every spreadsheet, every Google drive item, every little thing 4. Never sent an introductory email to guests on basic information and how to contact her with any day of questions, issues or problem that could’ve arises (even though she said this is her main job day of) 5. She was extremely disorganized day of, forgot the binder with all the pictures and information on decor setup and seating chart 6. Her assistant coordinators were asking my friends and guests what they should do as far as set up and how to help, as they had no direction from Nicki 7. Due to this, Nicki brought in last minute help to finish her job and billed us $723 extra as a result of her failure to show up prepared 8. She encouraged us to her her exquisite bartenders… one of which had just gotten TIPS certified and her first day ever bartending was the day of my wedding! She was extremely slow, the drinks were horrible and guests were spilling them out and wasting alcohol! 9. My strike team who witnessed all this and more described Nicki as “a hot mess, didn’t know what she was doing, and super disorganized “ 10. Nicki’s team incorrectly set up the table name cards that didn’t match the seating chart whatsoever. Guests were so lost and confused, standing around be moved from table to table. Nicki never took a moment to check if the seating was right. The catering team worked their tails off to try a serve beautiful dinner quickly and efficiently despite this massive mistake on Nicki’s part. 11. She hammered us about tipping. We happily wanted to tip our caterers, MC and DJ, photo and video team, dessert catering team, strike/setup team, bartenders (even though they were AWFUL), photo and video team and we did so VERY GENEROUSLY! She kept on grabbing my mom all night demanding she needed more and more tips for people like Safeway for delivering ice, the table delivery people, and herself. She trapped my mom in a back room, digging through my purse for cash on my wedding day. My poor mother was so distraught and missed out on a lot of time with guests. It was so incredibly frustrating and demeaning and uncalled for. Nicki then sent multiple emails after the wedding asking for more tips. She promised us a recap meeting after the wedding to go through the details of the day and wrap up any balances or invoices. I told her I had a question or two about the invoice and wanted to review it at the meeting. She proceeded to send us a massive email with line after line on what WE DID WRONG, made threat after threat on how we didn’t perfectly abide by her contract and insinuated how she could come after us, made horrible comments about me on my wedding day and belittled and berated us for her shortcomings and lack or execution. Brides! If you need to call or contact me with an issue or question about Nicki Burke, need to file a claim or need legal advice/representation (my attorney friends I work with were at my wedding, witnessed all of this and are helping us through this) you can DM me on Facebook (Michelle Wozniak-Spoerl) or Instagram (docwoz1).

Nicki and her team helped me recently plan and conduct a wedding. They were nothing but exceptional and ensured that the entire day went off without any hitches. If I was planning on getting married again I would hire them again in a heartbeat. We were sent monthly emails and helped through every step of the process. They read threw the contracts and even gave advice on what would work best. The whole process was fantastic and took a lot off of both of our (me and the brides) plates.

Nikki is an amazing wedding planner! In a year where COVID made just about everything challenging, Nikki made the process smooth and enjoyable. Each month we received an email with what was completed and what needed to be completed in the upcoming month. She sent timely reminders for vendor meetings. Nikki expertly navigated a tricky catering issue, that would have been a pain to do by ourselves. On the day of, Nikki made sure the event ran smoothly and that neither the groom or myself have to solve any problems, answer any questions, or even answer our own phone! Nikki helped us put together special surprises for each other for the day of the wedding that were very special. Overall, she was an amazing wedding planner and day of coordinator and worth every penny.
