Worst management and owner ever…

This company is ran by the rudest, most condescending man that I have ever encountered. My fiance and I originally booked our wedding here. We ended up getting pregnant and had to change our date, but our contract said that we could not change our date unless we told them 12 months in advance. We told them 10 Months in advance, so ultimately they said no and that we must forfeit our deposit. This isnt even what the problem was. The problem was I had 3 separate people corresponding with me telling me 3 different things. I wasnt told until 7 days after the first person emailed me that we would have to forfeit our deposit, as the first 2 people corresponding with me never mentioned it and led me to believe we could pick a new date without any repercussions. After all, we did tell them 10 months prior. At some point in the back and forth emails, the owner told me we had to forfeit our deposit but then offered to me that if the hall got booked on our cancelled date, that he would give me my deposit back “less 500” In the next email that I sent to him, i told him i was honestly super confused, that everyone keeps telling me something different and i just really wanted everyone to be on the same page, and that I didnt understand the wording that he used. I am not in the industry and i am not familiar with the terminology he used. Well, in the next email from the owner, he came back with.. and I quote.. “actually Leah, nothing at all confusing about my emails” which i felt to be extremely rude and condescending. I didnt know someone else was able to determine my level of understanding. In that same email, he told me that me expressing to him that everyone telling me something different was confusing..was “rude” and that it was “unfortunate” that I had to “insult” his company. He then proceeded to tell me he would not honor the deal he literally JUST offered in the previous email about giving me back my deposit minus the 500. He did this because he was “insulted” that I expressed my own feelings as a consumer about his business not being on the same page. He also went on to say after i told him I was pregnant that “it was unfortunate” that i couldnt keep my original date. Nobody should feel guilty or stupid for bringing a child into this world because it effects their wedding date. Things happen. And something this exciting such as a new baby should never be negatively spoken about. We thought about still doing our wedding here so we didnt have to search around for a new venue, but we instead chose to Consider our $2,000 deposit a loss and find somewhere new that actually cares about how their customers feel. Who treats people with respect. This company was about to receive around $10,000 from us. You would think they would treat people who are about to spend that kind of money with a bit of respect, instead of like complete crap. You would think a grown man who owns a WEDDING business would know how to speak to people politely. That is not the case here. If you wanna be talked down to and treated like a child, use this venue! Marchiori Ruined our wedding.
